The Kansas basketball team is expected to enter the 2024-25 season as one of the top title favorites in the country. A roster led by AJ Storr, Zeke Mayo, and likely Hunter Dickinson has the Jayhawks set to make a deep tournament run after a disappointing season for the program's standards.

After ten years, the Big 12/SEC Challenge came to a close, but the Big 12-Big East Battle remained. KU and back-to-back national champions UConn faced off in an Allen Fieldhouse thriller this past season. Many Jayhawk fans hoped the two blue blood schools would play a home-and-home with Self and Co. at Gampel Pavilion, but that will not be the case. Kansas will travel about 200 miles North to Omaha, Nebraska, to meet with the Creighton Bluejays.

On Dec. 4 in the CHI Health Center, the two teams will meet for their 18th all-time meeting. The Jayhawks have won six in a row and boast an impressive 11-6 record. It will be one of the most anticipated games on KU's nonconference slate, which already features games against Duke, North Carolina, and Michigan State.

Creighton has transformed into a completely different program under HC Greg McDermott. The Bluejays are fresh off a No. 3 seed in March Madness, tied for the highest mark in school history. They have made four consecutive tournament appearances with three Sweet 16 appearances across that span. The one year they did not make it was 2022 when they lost 79-72 in the Round of 32 to Kansas, the eventual champions.

Kansas holds a 4-1 record in the event since the Big 12-Big East Battle began in 2019, with the only loss coming to Villanova. The Jayhawks defeated Creighton in the COVID-19 season in a close game in Lawrence. The other schools playing on Dec. 4 in addition to KU are Baylor against UConn, Iowa State against Marquette, and Texas Tech against DePaul.

While Creighton's roster does not project to stack up to a squad like Kansas, it will still be a road game in a hostile environment. This is good news for Jayhawk fans who plan to travel to the game, as KU's proximity to Omaha is far closer than other Big East schools.
