With the 2023-24 college basketball season now officially over, many have begun to look toward next year to determine who will cut down the nets in 2025.
The Kansas Jayhawks find themselves as one of the most likely teams to take home the national championship according to multiple sportsbooks who released their betting odds this week – giving hope to a team looking for a rebound from a frustrating season.
Here’s where the Jayhawks stand across various sites:
- BetMGM: Tied for No. 1 odds with Duke (+1100)
- FanDuel: No. 2 odds (+1200)
- ESPNBet: No. 4 odds (+1200)
- DraftKings: Tied for N0. 2 odds with North Carolina (+1400)
Clearly oddsmakers are betting on the Jayhawks to have a bounce-back year following a disappointing 23-11 season that ended in a second round blowout loss in the NCAA Tournament to Gonzaga.
Starting point guard Dajuan Harris Jr. is returning along with the athletic, dunk machine that is starting forward KJ Adams Jr.
Transfer prospects Riley Kugel and Zeke Mayo should also make a big impact on next year’s team, along with a top-10 recruiting class that includes five-star center and McDonald’s All-American Flory Bidunga.
However, KU’s current title odds are largely predicated on the return of All-American center Hunter Dickinson.
If he returns, the Jayhawks will likely remain a top-five national championship favorite heading into next season – barring any major additions/moves the teams around them make through the transfer portal. KU likely isn’t done in the transfer portal either, which may boost their odds depending on the caliber of player(s) they add.
A lot can change between now and the start of the season – and certainly after it begins – but as it stands today, the Kansas Jayhawks are one of the favorites to cut down the nets next year.
