Kansas basketball recruiting roundup: Darryn Peterson, Eric Reibe, Jalen Montonati
With the Kansas basketball campaign approaching, head coach Bill Self and his assistants are making their final rounds around the country before the season is in full swing. Some recruiting news has surfaced over the past week about some prospects the Jayhawks are pursuing heavily.
Darryn Peterson meets with Coach Self
Peterson reportedly met with Self on Wednesday as he approaches his decision date. The 5-star prospect will choose his college on Nov. 1, and many sources view the Jayhawks as the frontrunner. He was the first high school athlete to sign an NIL deal with Adidas, remaining closely connected to Kansas for over a year.
Eric Reibe chooses UConn
A 4-star center from Germany, Reibe committed to UConn over Kansas, Creighton, Indiana and Oregon. He is a defensive-oriented center who is a solid shot-blocker given his length. The 7-footer had been trending toward the Jayhawks in recent weeks and visited campus in August, but he decided to pledge to Dan Hurley and the back-to-back champions.
Jalen Montonati makes visit during Late Night
Montonati, a 6-7, 165-pound senior from Oklahoma, took a weekend trip to Kansas for an official visit during Late Night in the Phog. He received an offer last May and has been in contact with the staff since. Montonati should be the biggest prospect on campus during Late Night.
