The Kansas Jayhawks are back in the win column after Week 1, pushing them to 2-0 on the season with wins over the Fresno State Bulldogs and Wagner Seahawks.
While neither win was over a ranked opponent or a team that's currently in a Power Conference, the resounding double-digit victories should still count for something. Yet, when the latest AP Top 25 Poll was released, the Jayhawks had received zero votes.
Kansas demolished Fresno State in a 31-7 victory over the Bulldogs and then took it a step further, blowing past the Seahawks with a 46-7 victory. Veteran quarterback Jalon Daniels has already earned 456 passing yards and seven touchdowns through the air, and running back Daniel Hishaw Jr. has hit the 150-yard mark on the ground for one touchdown.
Meanwhile, teams like Kansas State, which is already 1-1 on the season and eked out a win over the North Dakota Fighting Hawks, earned at least a handful of points.
So, despite the Jayhawks' finding monumental success through their first two games of the season, the AP voters didn't find them worthy of even creeping close to the Top 25.

Even the Alabama Crimson Tide, which had been ranked No. 8 in the nation and was embarrassed by an unranked Florida State, remained in the Top 25, earning a spot as the No. 21 team in the country. The Texas Longhorns, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Clemson Tigers all remained in the Top 10 despite each suffering a loss in Week 1 to start the year at 0-1.
Simply put, the AP Poll voters don't have the faith that they should in head coach Lance Leipold and his squad, despite the 2-0 start. Maybe a win against an SEC team in Week 3 could sway their minds in another direction.
Kansas and the Missouri Tigers play a 2:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Sept. 6, in the Jayhawks' third game of the season. The matchup will be broadcast on ESPN2.
