Lance Leipold landed a big-time commitment when a three-star linebacker from the class of 2026 announced he had committed to the Kansas Jayhawks over elite programs like Arizona State, SMU, TCU, and more.
Joseph Credit, an arguably underrated LB, committed to KU on Tuesday, May 13, sharing the hashtags "Rock Chalk" and "Credits Due" on his social media announcement.

Credit received 13 Division I offers throughout his recruitment process, and was crystal balled to commit to the SMU Mustangs, which are located just four hours from his hometown, Pearland, TX. However, the linebacker is taking his talents to Lawrence, KS, which is over 11 and a half hours away from Pearland.
Joseph Credit high school stats
- 131 total tackles (77 solo)
- 13 tackles for loss
- 22 hurry-ups
- 9 sacks
- 1 pass deflection
Credit has played just two seasons of varsity football and has already amassed 131 total tackles, averaging 65.5 tackles per season.
Where does Kansas's 2026 recruiting class stand?
With the addition of Credit's commitment, the Jayhawks' class of 2026 commitments moved up to No. 26 in the nation, with two four-star and 14 three-star commitments.
Leipold's four-star commitments from the class are safety James Dunnigan Jr., who the Jayhawks landed over his hometown team, the Kansas State Wildcats, and interior offensive lineman Kaden Snyder, who grew up just two hours away from Lawrence.
The Jayhawks are looking to turn things around from a disappointing finish to the 2024 season, which they started as ranked within the top 25 and finished with an abysmal 5-7 overall record.
Leipold is set to enter his fifth season with Kansas. So far, the Jayhawks' head coach has led them to a 22-28 overall record.
