Bill Self has been on a recruiting tear this summer, bringing two final puzzle pieces into his class of 2025: guard Kohl Rosario and center Paul Mbiya. Now, his sights are set on doing even more with his class of 2026 prospects.
Currently, Self and the Kansas Jayhawks are one of the final eight schools in the running for five-star combo guard Ikenna Alozie. However, the Jayhawks aren't the frontrunners in his recruiting process.
According to On3, the Washington Huskies currently have the best odds (53.8 percent) to earn Alozie's commitment, followed by the Arizona Wildcats with a 16.7 percent chance. Yet, Kansas and a handful of other teams are still in the running.

On3 gives the Jayhawks, Alabama Crimson Tide, Houston Cougars, Gonzaga Bulldogs, Kentucky Wildcats, and Louisville Cardinals all the same chance to land Alozie. Yet, with Self's recent recruiting success, why wouldn't a blue-chip recruit want to come play for the blue-blood program?
Alozie is the No. 5 combo guard in the class of 2026 and the No. 3 overall prospect from the state of Arizona. Most recently, he played in the 2025 Nike Hoop Summit in Portland, OR, representing the country of Nigeria.
Ikenna Alozie 2025 Nike Hoop Summit stats
- 31 minutes
- 9 points
- 6 rebounds
- 5 assists
- 3 steals
- 1 block
At just 6-foot-1 and 194 pounds, Alozie is slightly undersized for a collegiate guard, but his strong physical features allow him to attack the paint and the rim well. He plays a quick game and is skilled at dishing out the ball to create opportunities for his teammates.
With another year of high school basketball under his belt, Alozie should be ready by the fall of 2026 to join a collegiate roster. Hopefully, that roster is run by Self.
