A fellow blue-blood program is interested in Kansas basketball transfer Zuby Ejiofor, but he will only consider the Wildcats under one circumstance.

The Kansas Jayhawks were very high on Zuby Ejiofor, but he transferred from the program last week as a corresponding move to KU adding Hunter Dickinson. Now, he is eyeing one of the top programs in the sport.

On3.com reported that Ejiofor would visit UK if superstar big man Oscar Tshiebwe keeps his name in the NBA Draft. He has until May 31st to leave the draft pool and retain his one year of college eligibility. Tshiebwe projects as a late second-round pick at best, though he will likely not be drafted.

Earlier this week, college basketball insider Adam Zagoria reported that Zuby scheduled four on-campus visits with interested schools. He was told that more than 40 schools contacted Ejiofor’s mentor.

A source close to Kansas told On3.com this: “The coaching staff just called to touch base and to let us know that they will come after Zuby if Oscar doesn’t come back.”

Ejiofor is on his visit to Villanova right now and is set to visit San Diego State at the end of the month. Considering he is waiting for Tshiebwe’s decision, he is in no rush to choose his new school, and his recruitment process could lead up to the latter part of June.

A 6-foot-8 power forward, Zuby was the 247 Sports No. 47-ranked prospect in the Class of 2022 and spent one year at Kansas. In that time, he averaged 1.2 points and 1.7 rebounds in 5.1 minutes per game for the Jayhawks.

He did make an appearance in the Big 12/SEC challenge vs. Kentucky, though he saw just four minutes of playing time. Ejiofor hit his only attempted basket and committed two personal fouls in that period. However, UK must be very confident in his abilities if they view him as an alternative to an All-American center. Turning down an opportunity to play for one of the top programs in the country would be difficult to do.

It would be ironic if Ejiofor landed at Kentucky, where his playing time prospects would not be much better than they would have been at Kansas. However, we wish Zuby the best in his career and hope he finds a school that suits him best.
