After transferring from Kansas basketball, Zuby Ejiofor is receiving interest from several premier programs.

The Kansas Jayhawks have had seven players transfer out of the program since the offseason began. Zuby Ejiofor was the most recent to do so, a corresponding move to the acquisition of superstar big man Hunter Dickinson.

Ejiofor, the No. 47-ranked recruit in last year’s high school class, struggled to see the floor as a freshman with the Jayhawks. He appeared in 25 contests and averaged 5.1 minutes per game, averaging 1.2 points and 1.7 rebounds.

A foot injury that he sustained vs. Kentucky phased him out of the rotation, although fill-in head coach Norm Roberts played him for seven minutes in KU’s season-ending loss to Arkansas.

According to college basketball insider Adam Zagoria, Ejiofor has set visits with Villanova, St. John’s, TCU, and San Diego State. There are some winning programs on that list, as the Aztecs made the championship game this year, and Villanova won it all in 2016 and 2018.

Any of those stops would be good for him. Ejiofor is a high motor big who plays a physical game. Once he adapts a feel for the game and develops his footwork, Ejiofor will become a force to be reckoned with.

The departure of Ejiofor seriously thinned KU’s big man depth. Besides presumed starters Hunter Dickinson and KJ Adams, the only center off the bench is sophomore Ernest Udeh Jr. If Mackenzie Mgbako commits to Kansas this Friday, he would provide the Jayhawks with some more size down low.

With three years of eligibility remaining, he still has plenty of time to become a star. Ejiofor would have been a fantastic player at Kansas if he stayed the next few years, but Jayhawk fans wish him well in his future endeavors and hope he succeeds elsewhere.
