Kansas football quarterbacks to watch during 2021 spring practices

Miles Kendrick

Upperclassmen, Miles Kendrick would appear as a solid contestant for the starting job.

Kendrick took quite a few snaps for Kansas late in the 2020 season, mostly because Kansas could barely find any traction on offense.

While true freshman Jalen Daniels had taken a generous portion of the workload, the poor offensive line just didn’t seem to give him opportunities to shine. This is where Miles found a more substantial role on the field after taking a few snaps earlier in the year.

Following Daniel’s injury versus Oklahoma, Kendrick saw more responsibility for the Jayhawks.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t much to be excited about. While he holds a great deal of speed and a decent arm, Kendrick cannot make keen decisions under pressure. Often under pressure from a weak offensive line, Kendrick would either throw it away or run wide for maybe a yard or so.

The good news is that he will hold a mentor position in his next season, as he’s seen a good deal of football in Lawrence. He’ll have to earn that title though going up against the younger competition. Kendrick has some notches on his belt though and could become a stable quarterback for this offense down the line in 2021.
