Jalon Daniels

An exciting newcomer in the 2020 season, Jalon Daniels brought a lot of interest from coaches, fans, etc.

Having been described as “electric” by TE Mason Fairchild, the true freshman made his debut start in Week 2 against Baylor and he immediately caught attention for the dynamic he brought.

Daniels has a quick sense, matched by a good deal of speed. The main drawback, one that plagued Kendrick as well, was the unsustainable offensive line. Combine this with his age, being 17 at the time of his first start, and you could say the odds were against Daniels.

Regardless, Jalon made an extremely strong impression with his athleticism and Coach Miles has expressed a lot of excitement in the young quarterback.

Due to a couple of injuries throughout the year, Jalon missed some time on the field. Despite this, he still need not find a touchdown pass until Week 8 against TCU. With the moving pieces on Kansas’ roster, it’s no wonder why this was the case.

His most respectable receiver, senior Kwamie Lassiter II was his only option out of the gun.

Daniels hasn’t assured the starting job. While the young quarterback brings an applicable skill set, he was nearly as productive in the air as fans would’ve hoped and that will need to improve if he’s going to start taking snaps for good.
