As Kansas football’s spring practices sit right around the corner, the Jayhawks will have some competition for the starting QB job.

With spring practices taking place soon, Kansas football will have quite a bit to work on under their slightly adjusted coaching staff from the previous season that ended at 0-9.

Kansas established a decent recruiting class and the highest-ranked class for head coach Les Miles under the program. A couple of quarterbacks have signed to play in Lawrence and will try their hand at the starting job.

Having seen a recent transition on their offensive coaching staff, it appears that Mike DeBord will be undertaking quarterback decisions along with his duties as Kansas’ new offensive coordinator.

DeBord will likely want to start from scratch when deciding on who he wants to run his offense. Frankly, you can’t blame him.

Last year, junior Miles Kendrick and true freshman Jalen Daniels took a majority of the snaps for the Jayhawks. The duo was mixed thoroughly by the end of the season when their final game was canceled due to pandemic concerns.

Regardless, while there’s a decent amount of talent in this pair, it appears Kansas is ready to open the job up to whoever is ready to push this offense into a better direction.

Having a strong quarterback who can facilitate an offense will be crucial if Coach Miles wants to see any improvement from the previous season.

Here’s a look at a few names to watch when spring practices roll around.
