After starting the season within the Top 25, the Kansas football team fell out of the rankings and finished the season with an embarrassing 5-7 overall record.
Then, the Jayhawks' men's basketball team started at No. 1 in the nation just to finish sixth in the Big 12 and lose in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
However, despite the two abysmal downfalls, not all was lost for Kansas athletics during the 2024-25 calendar year. One expected program, the Jayhawks' baseball team, has provided a slight redemption to Kansas's season.
Currently, the Kansas baseball team has 16 wins on the road (tying a school record), making it one of just 13 Division I programs to achieve that feat this season. Now, the Jayhawks have a chance to break their program record with a road matchup against the Missouri Tigers on May 6.
KU Baseball: Kansas has 16 road wins this season, which is tied for the most in program history (2003). @KUBaseball is one of 13 Division I programs with at least 16 road wins this season.

The Jayhawks will be vying to set a new school record for road wins tonight at Missouri.
For reference, just a few weeks ago, Kansas clobbered Missouri in a 9-3 victory in their first matchup of the season.

Before the first pitch was ever thrown, the Jayhawks were projected to be a far cry from a top 25 team, missing out on any of the NCAA-accredited rankings. While sites like D1Baseball still have Kansas outside of the rankings, the Jayhawks' 36-13 record is setting them up beautifully for the Big 12 tournament.
Currently, just two Big 12 programs are within the top 25, according to D1Baseball. The Arizona Wildcats rest at No. 22 in the nation and the West Virginia Mountaineers have earned an impressive ranking at No. 12.
With a run in the conference tournament, the Jayhawks could easily find themselves in the regional round of the NCAA Tournament and on their way to a hopeful trip to the College World Series.
