Kansas fans in Lawrence, Kansas, have been positively buzzing for the last two days as head coach Bill Self was able to reel in the No. 1 recruit in the country. That is right, Tyran Stokes, the recruit the Jayhawks have been after for months, is finally a Jayhawk after announcing his decision on Tuesday night.

Not long after choosing the Jayhawks, Stokes made it to Lawrence, where he was welcomed by the entire coaching staff, some students, and, of course, the media. Everyone was anxious to hear what Stokes had to say about his plans for Kansas next season, and the youngster did not disappoint.

"I think we can go tot he natty," Stokes said. "That's the mission I'm on, that's what I got in store."

Tyran Stokes isn't planning on losing many games at Kansas

Stokes wanting to take Kansas to the National Championship game will be music to the ears of Jayhawks fans. Kansas has not been to the championship game since 2022, when they won it all, and fans are itching for some success in the NCAA Tournament.

The No. 1 overall 2026 recruit is going to be a game-changer for the Jayhawks next season and bring a lot to the court for Kansas. In all honesty, it seems like StokJayhawkses is telling fans everything they wish they heard from Darryn Peterson.

"You know, I am going to go out there and compete each and every night," Stokes said. "I want to win, I don't like to lose."

This is everything Kansas fans desperately wanted from Peterson that they just never got. It seems Stokes is going to go a different route than Peterson did, ready to take Kansas back to the big game. There is still a lot of time between now and the start of the season, but Kansas fans will be waiting for any bit of an inside look at Stokes in a Kansas uniform.
