Kansas now has the No. 2 recruiting class in the country behind just John Calipari's Arkansas team, and it is a slim margin according to 247Sports. Landing Tyra Stokes was huge for the Jayhawks in their rankings, giving Kansas two five-star recruits.

While landing Stokes was big for head coach Bill Self, fans can't forget about the other five-star recruit Self brought in. Five-star point guard Taylen Kinney is also making his way to Lawrence next season, and his pairing with Stokes is going to be a major problem for opposing teams.

After Stokes announced his commitment to Kansas, Kinney posted a photo on his Instagram story of himself and Stokes back in the day, but with a Kansas uniform on now. It is clear Kinney is excited to team up with Stokes on the court in college.

The Taylen Kinney-Tyran Stokes combination is going to be a problem for the rest of the college basketball world

Kinney has been committed to Kansas for quite some time, signing his Letter of Intent back in November of 2025. Stoke made his commitment Tuesday night, but his paperwork is already finished at Kansas, making him an official Jayhawk.

Coming in as the only two five-star recruits for the 2026 recruiting class, Kinney and Stokes have the potential to be the next great college basketball duo. Kinney is an elite point guard who can find the open shot for his teammates easily, as well as having a knack for getting to the basket and finishing at the rim.

Stokes is, of course, a dynamic scorer coming to Kansas as a power forward. Stokes has elite handles like a point guard, but the size of a forward, which makes it easier for him to get to the basket. Kinney and Stokes are going to create a one-two punch working inside out in the paint that will be tough for opposing defenses to stop.

Self needs a good combo on the court instead of just one star player, and with Stokes committing, he gets just that with Kinney on the court as well.
