The Tyran Stokes saga has taken another turn, and it just might be the craziest one yet. As Kansas fans know, Stokes is the No. 1 overall recruit in the Class of 2026, and Kansas and Kentucky have been in a heated battle for a commitment.
Both teams have tried to pull out all the stops in order to land Stokes' commitment, but Kentucky just pulled one move that seems like the craziest one of all. As reported by Kentucky Sports Radio, the Wildcats have offered former NBA star and assistant basketball coach of Rainer Beach High School, Jamal Crawford, an assistant coach job.
Stokes and Crawford have a good relationship, being player and coach at the same school, and it feels like Kentucky offering him a job is just another ploy to get Stokes to Lexington. Stokes even confirmed that Kentucky offered Crawford a job on an Instagram live.
“Kentucky real life did offer Jamal (Crawford) a job though.”

Tyran Stokes saga could officially come to a close soon
As reported by Jeff Goodman, Stokes could finally end the waiting game with there being rumors of him announcing his commitment on Monday. Both Kansas and Kentucky fans will be anxiously awaiting the news all day, but even Goodman felt like it could be a little too good to be true.
Stokes has certainly taken his time during his commitment as originally he was set to commit towards thee nd of 2025, but now in April of 2026 might finally be ready to make a choice. He has gone back and forth between Kansas and Kentucky, but Oregon, at times, has also made a push for his commitment.
There have been multiple visits to both Kansas and Kentucky, the most recent for Stokes being to Lexington, making Wildcat fans think they have Stokes in the bag. However, Stokes has also enjoyed everything that Kansas has had to offer him, and NIL brand deals seem to be more of an issue getting in the way.
A decision will have to come soon, as Stokes' time in high school is coming to an end, and the college basketball world awaits him. Will it be in a Kansas uniform or a Kentucky uniform, though? Time will tell.
