A pair of key pieces for the future of Kansas men’s and women’s basketball will be on display tonight as the 2025 McDonald’s All American Games kick off inside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Back in January, it was announced that two Kansas signees – five-star guard Darryn Peterson and five-star forward Jaliya Davis – were named to this year’s McDonald’s All American rosters.
Davis’ talents will be on display first tonight as the girls’ game tips off at 5:30 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
Rated as the No. 17 overall recruit in the ESPNW rankings and the top ranked player in the state of Kansas, the Blue Valley North (Overland Park) product will be suiting up for the East roster.
In a preview of tonight’s game, ESPN had this to say about the future Kansas forward:
“Davis is one of the premier forwards in the class. In an age when most players want to be perimeter-oriented, Davis does her work in and around the paint like an old-school forward. She has exceptional rebounding ability and a touch around the rim, combined with a fundamental back-to-the-basket game. Davis' second-jump reaction time and the effort and energy she brings to the floor help her fill a valuable role. Davis will bring a blue-collar approach that will lead to consistent production for Brandon Schneider and Kansas.”
Davis is just the third signee in Kansas women’s basketball history to be named a McDonald’s All American and the first since Lauren Ervin in 2003. Davis is part of a loaded 2025 recruiting class that is ranked No. 6 in the ESPNW rankings.
Following the girls’ game, Peterson will be suiting up for the West roster as the boys’ game tips off at 8 p.m. CT on ESPN.
Peterson, the Prolific Prep (California) product, is ranked as the No. 2 overall recruit in ESPN’s 2025 rankings and is likely to be a starter in tonight’s game. He is the 52nd signee in Kansas men’s basketball history to be named a McDonald’s All American.
Peterson is slated to be the main focal point of KU’s roster next season after the mass exodus of transfers we’ve seen the past few days from this year’s team, and all eyes will be on him tonight to see how he performs with some of the nation’s top talent.
