Kansas NFL mock draft: Where will the Jayhawks land within the draft?
By Sam Fariss
The Jayhawks have seven players who entered into the 2024 NFL Draft. The team had a surprisingly successful season. With a major upset over the Oklahoma Sooners and a 9-4 overall record, Kansas looked skilled and well-prepared for anything in front of them.
The average draft leads to 1.6 percent of collegiate players who are eligible being drafted. I expect a few Jayhawks to be a part of that percentage this year.
Here’s when I expect to see some Kansas players drafted into the NFL this April:
Dominick Puni skyrocketed his draft stock during the week of the Senior Bowl. His brute force and strength were on display as he matched up against some of the best D-Linemen. Puni also showed incredible awareness and tactile technique. He will easily go in the first three rounds of the draft.
While Mason Fairchild didn't partake in the Senior Bowl, the tight end did get a chance to show off his talents at the 2024 Shrine Bowl. At 248 pounds, Fairchild has a surprising top speed and swiftness about his game play. In the game he made for a big target and even scored a touchdown off a play-action bootleg.
Austin Booker joined his fellow Jayhawk at the Senior Bowl week. Finishing second in the Big 12 in sacks per game and standing at 240 pounds, he uses his big frame to carry himself through offensive lines. Booker had a good week in Mobile and boosted his draft stock leading up to the NFL Combine. he will go later in the draft but will still hear his name called in April.
