Kansas basketball: Surprise Jayhawks recruiting target took unofficial visit during Yale game
With the 2024 recruiting class all but wrapped up, Bill Self and the Kansas basketball coaching staff continue to pursue some of the best juniors in the country. It was initially reported that 5-star wing Joson Sanon would be on campus this weekend for KU's meeting with Yale, the visit fell through, and he never arrived. Instead, a different player went to watch the Jayhawks play.
6-foot-8 forward Sebastian Williams-Adams was present at the game. According to 247 Sports, he is the No. 21 player in the Class of 2025, the No. 5 power forward, and the top player out of the state of Texas. Although he attends St. John's in Houston, his mother lives in Wichita and he has other ties to the area.
Here are a few snapshots he posted to X (formerly Twitter) with Coach Self and superstar big man Hunter Dickinson.
Williams-Adams has been recruited by several Power 5 schools in Texas, such as Texas A&M and UT. Tennessee, Michigan, and Alabama are also in the mix. He has not taken any official visits yet and can still return for an official visit if his interest in KU continues.
In the summer, Williams-Adams had reportedly been working on scheduling a visit to KU, and it took place beginning Friday. He is clearly a priority and continues to grow closer with the Jayhawks. Here is a scouting report on his game.
“Williams-Adams brings a fundamentally sound style of play to the offensive end of the floor. An imposing straight-line driver, he overpowers defenders on his attack with control and is a reliable finisher through contact. Additionally, he is committed to rebounding and has the ball skills to take the ball off the defensive glass and lead the break. He does damage from behind the arc by spotting up and with all the tools he brings to the table, he has ways to go in terms of realizing how imposing and effective he is as a prospect.”
