The Kansas Jayhawks and K-State Wildcats have been rivals for years on end. Simply put, the two teams’ fanbases (and even coaches) do not like each other. That has been and will continue to be the case until the end of time.

It isn't uncommon to see supporters of both schools throw jabs or criticize their rivals, even when the other is not involved in the situation. However, the rivalry has taken on a unique form after seeing what this future Wildcat did yesterday.

Transfer portal guard Dug McDaniel committed to K-State, joining Jerome Tang and Co. after spending two years at Michigan. He added a familiar face to Jayhawk fans in his commitment video, and after seeing it, you'll probably question why he ever did this in the first place. You can watch it here:

That's right. Not even five seconds into his commitment video, the newest addition in Manhattan already has his mind on the Jayhawks.

It included a clip of Kansas head coach Bill Self saying, "What a great day to be a Wildcat." If you're wondering, the context of that soundbite is when Self reiterated what Coach Tang's voicemail sounded like in a 2022 press conference.

Posting something like this before a big game or after a win is one thing, but including a coach from a different school than the one you are joining in your commitment video? That is an unprecedented level of obsession, and in all honesty, pretty embarrassing and classless for a school that is trailing the all-time basketball series by over 100 games.

Even K-State writer Ryan Wallace expressed his disapproval of the video, saying the clip of Self made it "distracting" and "tacky."

"Maybe it's a non-issue for most but really hoping McDaniel's video wasn't K-State produced. Simply no need nor good reason to feature anything or anyone other than representation of your future program/school in a commitment video. It's both distracting and tacky. Buzz kill."

Can you imagine if a player who transferred to Kansas included any mention of K-State in his video? KU fans would feel the same way about that. A commitment tape of any kind should not include anything besides the university you are committing to, regardless of the school.

If Jayhawk fans needed any more reasons to root against K-State when the two schools meet next year, this here will definitely do it.
