Last week, it was reported that Omoruyi would meet with Kansas on a Zoom call in the next few days. It makes sense why Bill Self is interested in the Rutgers transfer, who is an excellent shot-blocker and a formidable paint presence. He is one of the most coveted players in the portal right now.

Omoruyi could be the coaching staff's contingency plan if Hunter Dickinson leaves KU and pursues pro ball. It's highly unlikely that he is willing to take on a limited bench role after starting three consecutive seasons in the Big Ten, and the Jayhawks have other needs they must fill before burying All-American freshman Flory Bidunga to the bottom of the depth chart.

While the best-case scenario is Dickinson exercising his final year of eligibility, things don't always go as planned. Omoruyi could also be viewed as a potential option if KU plans to reduce KJ Adams' role to experiment with a two big-man lineup.
