The Kansas basketball roster has undergone a significant transformation this offseason. Bill Self and the Jayhawks reeled in four highly touted players from the transfer portal after a disappointing finish to the 2023-24 campaign. The newest additions to the squad have made KU one of the favorites to win it all next season.
While Kansas has been successful in most of its transfer pursuits, the coaching staff did miss out on a pair of portal targets. Koby Brea and Javon Small, who were reportedly KU's top priorities, committed elsewhere yesterday, casting uncertainty surrounding how the rest of the offseason will play out.
Coach Self still has the choice to begin the year down one scholarship as the program works its way back from the self-imposed reduction that began last year. On the other hand, the coaching staff could decide to go all out by filling the roster with a 13th and final player.
Depth was a massive issue for the Jayhawks last season, and it is something that can still be addressed in the portal. With that being said, there are still some above-average options on the open market for KU.
