Several Kansas football players have an opportunity to hear their names called during the NFL Draft in two months. The Jayhawks had two alumni selected last year, and Lance Leipold’s program continues to send talent off to the next level.

Perhaps the most intriguing prospect out of Lawrence is cornerback Cobee Bryant. The talented Alabama native is earning national recognition and is viewed by many scouts as a potential second or third-round pick. In NFL.com’s most recent mock draft, analyst Chad Reuter has the Washington Commanders selecting Bryant No. 61 overall toward the end of the second round.

While Bryant is relatively undersized at 6-foot, 175 pounds, his stellar coverage skills grabbed many people’s attention at the East-West Shrine Bowl practices. Scouts noted that he ranked among the best and most competitive players at the event. His draft stock has risen dramatically in recent weeks as a result.

Bryant cemented himself as one of the best defensive backs in Kansas football history, becoming the first Jayhawk ever to earn three consecutive All-Big 12 First Team selections. Across four seasons at Kansas, he recorded 13 interceptions, 22 passes defended, and 128 total tackles. Other accolades include becoming AFCA Coaches Second Team All-America and The Sporting News Second Team All-American in 2024.

Needless to say, Bryant has always been quite a polarizing player. He talks trash to opposing players and posts often on social media. Between the anticipated matchup with Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter and constantly berating K-State on X, Jayhawk fans will remember him for many reasons.

Bryant is not the only Kansas standout with NFL potential. The school’s all-time leading rusher, Devin Neal, will likely be drafted in the fourth or fifth round. Fellow defensive back Mello Dotson and offensive lineman Logan Brown have also been listed on mock drafts.
