After a monumental collapse during the 2024-25 season, Kansas men's basketball coach needs a few wins to cool off his seat. A visit from the No. 1 recruit in the nation would certainly be a step in the right direction.

On Tuesday, April 15, it was reported that Tyran Stokes would visit Self over the upcoming weekend as the No. 1 prospect from the class of 2026 looked to narrow his search for his future program.

The five-star forward has already received 17 Division I offers from powerhouse programs such as the Kentucky Wildcats, Houston Cougars, North Carolina Tar Heels, and Kansas Jayhawks, of course.

Kansas extended an offer to Stokes nearly two years ago, on July 11, 2023, when the 6-foot-7, 225-pound power forward was just a freshman in high school. During the 2024-25 season, Stokes averaged 21 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 1.5 steals per game as a junior.

What happened to the Kansas Jayhawks last year?

Last season, despite starting the season ranked as the No. 1 team in the nation, Kansas fell apart throughout the regular season and finished the year with a 21-13 overall record after losing to Arkansas in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

As the regular season unfolded and the Jayhawks fell outside of the Top 25 for the first time in four seasons, putting Self on the hot seat as people questioned if he was the right man for the head coaching job at Kansas.

Fans had every right to be upset with the Jayhawks' performance as they were quickly eliminated from the Big 12 Tournament in the quarterfinal round. However, just ahead of the postseason, Self let the nation know that he had zero plans to be anywhere but with the Jayhawks during the upcoming seasons.
