Multiple Kansas football players were invited to the 2025 scouting combine, which began Feb. 27. Across Friday and Saturday, the Jayhawks’ prospects showcased their skills in front of NFL scouts as they gear up for the biggest day of their lives.
As many as four former KU stars have an opportunity to hear their names called at the podium. The majority of them opted to measure their physicals and participate in some skills challenges. A couple of them may have raised their draft stock.
How did Kansas football prospects fare at the NFL Scouting Combine?
No Jayhawks particularly wowed scouts at the event, but for the most part, they had good moments.
Cornerback Cobee Bryant ran a 4.53 40-yard dash, a rather underwhelming number for someone his size — he ranks in the bottom 20th percentile for corners in weight. However, his 10-yard split time was very good and he still has terrific ball skills. The Detroit Lions seem to be very interested in the Alabama native.
Running back Devin Neal also struggled in the 40-yard dash, finishing his second attempt with an unofficial 4.59. Yet he scored an 8.43 Relative Athletic Score out of a possible 10.00, ranking 301st among the last 1,909 running backs in combine history. His 37.5 vertical and 10.04 broad jump gave him a ‘great’ grade for explosion. Straight line speed may not be his forte, but he is as elusive as any tailback in his class.
Meanwhile, cornerback Mello Dotson performed well in his drills, and Logan Brown has not done them yet. Dotson has been praised for his transition quickness and was a standout in positional drills. Brown reportedly met with the Kansas City Chiefs and said he plans to meet with the Cincinnati Bengals.
The event will continue to go on until Sunday, Mar. 2. Hopefully, the Jayhawk players will have made strong impressions on their suitors by then.
