There are good recruiting weekends, there are even great recruiting weekends, but sometimes a head coach achieves a perfect recruiting weekend, and those are rare. Kansas head coach Lance Leipold just achieved a perfect recruiting weekend after welcoming 12 prospects to campus, five already committed and seven uncommitted.
As of Monday, Leipold finished the weekend a perfect seven-for-seven, gaining commitments from every uncommitted player who had their official visit to Lawrence this weekend. The final domino to fall was three-star wide receiver Jay Williams, who still had two official visits on his calendar after his time at Kansas.

Don't be surprised if you see those visits to Arizona and Oregon State cancelled now that Williams has locked himself in with the Jayhawks. The commitment from Williams means that Leipold now has seven new commits in the Class of 2027, bringing his total up to 16 on the year.
Lance Leipold received commitments from every non-committed player from official visit weekend
The goal going into the weekend for Leipold, as it is for any head coach with a big official visit happening, was to get as many commitments out of the weekend as possible. It felt like Leipold was so close with Williams, being the only player not to choose the Jayhawks before leaving Lawrence, especially with two more official visits on the books.
Williams threw everyone for a loop, however, with a late commitment Monday afternoon, to help Leipold achieve that rare perfect weekend. Not only did Leipold gain another commitment, but Kansas also moved up in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings to No. 31 in the country, three spots up just from this morning.
With Williams' commitment, it gives Leipold four new wide receivers in the 2027 recruiting class, also giving hope for the offense of the future at Kansas. The Jayhawks have struggled offensively the past few years, some of that due to the injuries to quarterback Jalon Daniels.
Now, with Kansas moving into a new era of quarterback, this gives the Jayhawks some breathing room to build up the offense, and Leipold has shown a commitment to doing just that with the recruits he is bringing in. Along with wide receivers, Leipold has also gained some key commitments for the offensive line, which will see a lot of change in the coming seasons, as well as a commitment from three-star quarterback Chance Thomas.
Leipold has been red hot on the recruiting trail as of late, and Kansas is set to welcome at least 10 more recruits throughout the rest of June, giving him a great shot at bringing in more recruits than the Class of 2026.
