Todd Reesing is the greatest quarterback in Kansas football history. This is not an opinion but an irrefutable fact. Not only does he top the major statistical categories in the KU record book, but he was also the leader of the best team in the program's long history.

After the exciting win by Kansas over Baylor on Saturday, and after the David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium had emptied, Kansas athletic director Travis Goff shared a video of Reesing playing catch with his brother in the empty venue.

The video shows Reesing running downfield and his brother throwing him a long pass from the end zone. Reesing caught the pass at about the 25-yard line, then scampered 75 yards for the score before falling to the turf in celebration (exhaustion). The video shows joy for the game and the image of him lying in the end zone, signaling a touchdown from his back. It is an incredible image.

Matt Tait, who has covered the Jayhawks for years, was also thrilled to see Reesing on the field. It just shows what kind of impact Reesing had on this program, even though it was nearly two decades ago.

For a recent comparison, think about how Reesing's numbers match up against former QB Jalon Daniels' stats at Kansas. While Daniels had an incredible career for the Jayhawks, he still trails Reesing by nearly 2,000 passing yards and 23 touchdowns.

Todd Reesing still remains the best quarterback in Kansas football history

During his storied four-year career at Kansas, Reesing accumulated 11,194 passing yards and threw 90 touchdown passes to just 33 interceptions. He added 646 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns with his legs, all in 41 games.

After playing sparingly as a freshman, Reesing exploded as a sophomore, as did his team around him. Reesing threw for 3,486 yards, 33 touchdowns, and only seven interceptions. That 2007 team was the best KU squad ever, finishing 12-1 with an Orange Bowl win to their credit.

Reesing added two more big passing seasons during his junior and senior seasons. In 2008, he logged a career-high 3,888 yards with 32 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. In his final year on campus, marred by a persistent ankle injury and a team that unraveled as the season progressed, Reesing added 3,616 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

While Reesing has an incredible college quarterback, his size prevented him from a professional career. He was generously listed at five-foot-eleven (probably measured with his cleats on). Still, he was incredibly fun to watch and played with a toughness and a skill KU fans have never seen play in the Crimson and Blue at quarterback.

KEY INFO: HOW TO WATCH KANSAS VS. TCU

Reesing produced 18 games with over 300 yards passing and four games with over 400 yards. He had eight games with at least four touchdowns and one with six. One of his greatest passing games was his last. In a two-point loss to Missouri in 2009, Reesing was 37 out of 55 passing for 498 yards and four touchdowns. In a game earlier that season, a win against Iowa State, he was 37 for 49 (75.5 percent) for 442 yards and four touchdowns. These were just a couple of his greatest games.

Reesing has a unique place in Kansas football history, and it was terrific to see him enjoying some fun on the field, where he enjoyed so much success. He was such an incredible college player! With the state of the college game now, no one will ever touch his records at Kansas, so he will live forever as the best quarterback to ever play at Kansas.
