Lance Leipold and the Kansas football program have come out firing early in the transfer portal. They’ve landed nearly a dozen newcomers to the squad, strengthening a KU roster that was loaded with seniors this past season.

One of the team’s most highly touted additions is DJ Graham, a cornerback who spent time at Oklahoma and Utah State. During his period in Norman, Graham headlined SportsCenter’s Top Ten plays with one of the most ridiculous interceptions you’ll ever see in a 2021 game against Nebraska. Even if you aren’t familiar with him, chances are you have seen this clip before:

DJ Graham's interception at Oklahoma was an iconic moment

The one-handed twirling interception was a beauty, and the call by commentator Gus Johnson put the cherry on top. It’s safe to say that only a few highlights rival that play. Jayhawk fans can only hope they can experience some moments like that with Graham in Lawrence.

During his three-year tenure at OU, Graham totaled 72 tackles, five pass breakups, and a pair of interceptions in 28 games. He missed the 2023 season due to a disclosed injury and later transferred to Utah State. The Keller, Texas native will spend his final year of eligibility at Kansas for a second Big 12 stint.

Given the departures of All-Big 12 cornerbacks Cobee Bryant and Mello Dotson, help was needed at that position heading into the offseason. Leipold and Co. have quickly addressed it.

The addition of Graham is certainly an exciting one, and plays like this are exactly why. He and Alabama transfer Jahlil Hurley should play significant roles in the secondary next season.
