People are growing a little more used to college football players who play on both sides of the ball and ones that happen to dabble in track or baseball as well as tearing it up on the gridiron. It isn't often that you hear about offensive linemen excelling outside of the sport.
However, Jayhawk fans can celebrate just that as Kansas OL Bryce Foster heads to Eugene, OR, for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Now, Foster isn't competing in the 100-meter dash or the 10-kilometer foot race. However, the big man is competing in shot put, an event that has been dominated by American athletes on the international stage for the last decade.
A man that can do both 🤧

Foster transferred to Kansas from Texas A&M, where he also competed in shot put, and started in all 12 games for the Jayhawks during the 2024 season.
In the first round of the postseason, Foster threw out a resounding 19.2-meter toss to qualify for the Championships, earning the No. 13 "seed" in the men's shot put event. While Ole Miss's Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan is once again favored to win the event, Foster has had an impressive season so far.
How does NCAA Shot Put work?
This year, the NCAA Outdoor Championships are taking place at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field, where the Ducks have two shot put rings within the main stadium. The two flights (which have 12 athletes apiece) will alternate taking throws.
Foster is in Flight No. 1 and will throw 12th in the first flight. He is joined by fellow Jayhawk Jacob Cookinham, who will throw fourth in the first flight.
After the first round of tosses (three attempts per athlete), the top nine throwers from the field of 24 will advance to the final round, where each will have three more throws to try to improve upon their farthest distance.
