Kansas basketball slated to participate in major 2025 in-season tournament
The Kansas basketball team kicked off the regular season with a win against Howard yesterday. An important matchup against No. 9 North Carolina is looming later this week.
It is no secret that the Jayhawks always assemble a difficult nonconference schedule, and that won’t be any different a year from now. CBS Sports analyst Jon Rothstein released a report that named Kansas as one of the four schools that will participate in the 2025 Rady’s Children’s Invitational in San Diego.
Kansas basketball to headline 2025 Rady Children's Invitational
Kansas will join Florida, Wisconsin, and Providence in the competition next year. There is a semifinal and championship round, including a consolation round for first-round losers. The two-day, four-team tournament debuted last year, with Oklahoma defeating USC in a thriller. This year, Ole Miss, BYU, Purdue, and NC State are the featured teams.
It is the first in-season tournament Kansas has been connected to since the Maui Invitational last year. The Jayhawks are already expected to play Duke in the Champion’s Classic and North Carolina for the other half of the home-and-home agreement during nonconference play.
Rady Children’s Hospital is located in San Diego. The games will be played at LionTree Arena, home to the UC San Diego basketball and volleyball teams. The event is hosted by Sports San Diego.
