Allen Fieldhouse has been a staple for years of the Kansas Jayhawks winning basketball game after basketball game, many Big 12 regular season titles, and dominant play on the hardwood. The building has been around in Lawrence since 1955, of course, going through different renovations to update the facilities.
The Jayhawks celebrated the 1,000th game in Allen Fieldhouse on Saturday, when they welcomed No. 13 BYU as well as College GameDay. It was a successful day on many counts, starting with the ranked win over the Cougars, and setting a record for the most-watched show during the regular season since 2015 for College GameDay.

The crew was hyped up and ready to go in Lawrence, surrounded by students who had camped out for days just to get a good seat, not just for the game, but for the show beforehand. It came with special guests like Kansas basketball and NBA legend Paul Pierce.
The Jayhawks also welcome some future players into the building, as well as one player head coach Bill Self hopes to sign, No. 1 overall 2026 prospect Tyran Stokes. The Jayhawks certainly made it a party with a huge win over No. 13 BYU, in a game that felt like it was over at halftime.
Even though Kansas has not had the most perfect season, the Jayhawks are hitting their stride at the right time with a six-game win streak. With roughly one more month until the regular season concludes, Kansas still has some big matchups ahead of it, but it isn't out of the Big 12 race just yet.
After a matchup with Utah, Kansas will welcome No. 1 Arizona to town with its undefeated record in tow. The Jayhawks will hope to play spoiler and make up some ground in the Big 12 standings. Kansas will still have another matchup with the Wildcats later on in the season, but first, they need to get through Utah.
