Kansas Football is back, and so is Jalon Daniels, the Kansas cult hero, is back for his sixth-year under center. We have all seen Daniels shine, yet since his breakout 2022 season, Daniels has fallen victim to injuries and inconsistencies, making Kansas fans treasure each moment they get to see the Lawndale, California native have.
Yesterday marked Kansas' first game under the bright new lights of the freshly renovated David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium, and the Jayhawks took full advantage of the pre-game hype that was bubbling around the Jayhawks.
This isn't to say Kansas without troubles, Fresno State quarterback E.J. Warner was quick to flex his darting passes with an efficient 3:46, 75-yard drive led by Warner that ended in a silencing touchdown drive to even things up in the first quarter.
Yet after that wake-up call, Kansas began to fly, with Daniels leading the charge. The Jayhawk finished the night, notching 176 yards and three touchdowns with a jaw-dropping 18/20 completion rate, with 8.8 yards per completion.
Looks like Jalon Daniels' day is done. He finishes with more touchdowns (three) than incompletions (two).

Daniels found a smooth ability to make plays on the ground as well, you have to think no further than the first drive of the game when on an early third down with six yards to go, Daniels maneuvered himself to the sideline after 11 yards.

Daniels was able to claim all the hype as Kansas eventually steam rolled past Fresno State in its opening 31-7 win of the 2025 campaign.
Daniels looked accurate on nearly every pass, hardly putting a foot wrong. Daniels also exemplified a strong ability to not just throw the ball to the right target, but also in the right position, rarely if ever did Daniels look as if he was delivering an errant pass.
This is what Kansas fans want to see from Daniels, of course it is only the first game of a long season ahead, but fans of the Jayhawks want a consistent game-managing quarterback like Daniels has so often exuded.
Up next for the Jayhawks is a week one matchup against FCS side Wagner. Action is set to take place at 6:30 PM CT this upcoming Friday, August 29th.
