Week zero football began today, allowing for a lucky few college teams to make an early statement. Today already saw a shake-up in Big 12 action as No. 17 Kansas State fell to No. 22 Iowa State in a thrilling 24-21 Cyclone victory.
Hours after that slugfest, Kansas took the field against Mountain West team Fresno State. With a sold out David Booth Memorial Stadium looking on, there has already been a LOT of talking points as Kansas walked into the locker room with a 24-7 lead.
You may be asking, "Who was the biggest star from the Jayhawks' first half?" The usual answers could have been Jalon Daniels? Bangally Kamara? Daniel Hishaw Jr.? While all three of those players had their highlights, the star player award has to go to Ball State transfer wide receiver Cam Pickett.
Pickett finished the first half of today's game with six receptions, 77 yards and two touchdowns.

Not only does Pickett pick up his first touchdown as a Jayhawk, but also the first in the revamped David Booth Memorial Stadium.
Minutes later, with a narrow 14-7 lead, Pickett opened up the game for the Jayhawks with his second touchdown on the night.

There were a few performances worth noting from Pickett last season. The first, an electric 119-yard game in a 42-21 loss to the Ohio Bobcats, where Pickett reeled in nine receptions. The second being where Pickett found 74 yards and a touchdown despite Buffalo taking down the Cardinals in a 51-48 overtime loss.
Kansas hasn't had things all their way, Fresno State is still well in this game, especially as the Bulldogs get the ball to start the second half, but one thing for sure, Cam Pickett is now a must-watch name for Kansas football fans.
