What makes a collegiate quarterback great? This is a question that could be answered in what feels like a hundred different ways by a hundred different people. Some people like accurate short-range passing, others like guys who can throw long darts, and some prefer the scrambling quarterbacks who can create plays on their own.
Kansas has a quarterback who can do pretty much everything at a good rate.
Jalon Daniels has spent his whole college career as a Jayhawk, with his first valuable minutes coming in Daniels’ junior season, where he compiled nine games played, 18 touchdowns, and four interceptions, slinging for over 220 yards per game. Since then, Daniels has been a star quarterback for the Big 12 squad and has helped chief a turnaround that has seen Kansas rake in two bowl games in four seasons, with College Football Playoff rankings as high as No.16 in the nation.
As of this evening, Jalon Daniels was on the cusp of two impressive marks that only one other quarterback in Jayhawk history has been able to accomplish.
It took just one quarter of action for both these marks to be hit. Jalon Daniels has notched 50 career passing touchdowns and over 7,000 yards.

Daniels has not only spent his career as a stubborn passer but also as an electric runner. Daniels has tallied over 1,000 yards and 19 touchdowns to provide a stellar threat on both sides of the quarterback spectrum.
Now, of course, Daniels is still far behind the great Todd Reesing. Reesing totaled 11,194 yards and 90 passing touchdowns during his tenure, which also saw Reesing help lead the Jayhawks to their famous 12-1 season in 2007. Reesing’s time at Kansas marked an impressive 31-19 record.
While Daniels won’t be able to surpass Reesing’s numbers. Daniels will be known as the Kansas quarterback who was able to turn the Jayhawks around and will always be a favorite of KU fans.
