With the hype of basketball season and March Madness looming, it is easy for Kansas football to get lost in the mix, but the Jayhawks are preparing for another season in the fall, and a few former Jayhawks made their way to the NFL Combine in Indy.
The biggest name at the combine for Kansas was probably quarterback Jalon Daniels. The former Jayhawks quarterback spent six seasons in Lawrence and while some were great, Daniels also dealt with injury throughout his career. Daniels was able to finish his career with his best season yet with 2,531 passing yards, 22 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions.
With his eligibility out, Daniels will now try his luck in the NFL and took his talents to Indianapolis for the NFL Combine. Daniels may not have been able to put out his best performance ever in front of the 32 NFL scouts, but he ended his time there on a very high note.
In his final passing drill, Daniels threw a beautiful deep pass that showed off his arm strength and accuracy downfield. Daniels received the snap, dropped back to about the 10-yard line, and threw the ball roughly 65 yards to the 25-yard line on the opposite side of the field.

Jalon Daniels time at Kansas is one fans will always remember
Jalon Daniel may not have ever led the Jayhawks to a Big 12 title or the College Football Playoff, but he was a big part in bringing the football program out of the basement it has lived in for years. After a 2-10 season in 2021, Daniels took over as the starter in 2022 and led Kansas to an amazing 5-0 start.
While things went downhill from there, Kansas was still able to become eligible for a bowl game for the first time since 2008. Even though he suffered an injury in 2023, Daniels also helped lead Kansas to an 8-4 record, a huge step up from years before.
Daniels could have chosen to transfer away from Kansas at any moment, especially with his injury problems, but instead, he stuck with the Jayhawks for six years. Daniels will always be remembered fondly in Lawrence for his dedication to his teammates and Kansas fans everywhere.
