If there is anybody on this Kansas Football roster that knows what it takes to be successful through the face of adversity, it is the senior quarterback Jalon Daniels.
The face of the Kansas Football program was just named to the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List, according to KU Athletics. This award is handed out annually to the most impressive upperclassman quarterback in the NCAA on and off the field. This is the second year in a row that Daniels has been on this honorable list of field general's.
Daniels ranks second on the Kansas all-time passing yards leaderboard at 6,751 yards, only behind the legendary Todd Reesing (11,194 yards). Though, he will not have a realistic chance of passing Reesing, he still has a lot to show to not only Lawrence, but the entire nation.
Even though Kansas football did not have the season that they quite hoped for last year, Jalon Daniels is still the undeniable leader of this team alongside head coach Lance Leipold, who is entering his highly anticipated fifth go-around at KU. They will undoubtedly be one of the top coaching-quarterback duos in the FBS this season.
As the season progresses, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award Watch List will be continually narrowed down until there is one athlete that will bring home the prestigious honor at the end of the season in Baltimore.
Rather than dwelling on the past fourth-quarter mishaps during last season's campaign, Daniels and KU are using that as motivation moving forward. This team knows how good it can truly be when everybody is at their best, and the time for them to prove it is finally here.
Jalon Daniels and the Jayhawks are slated to begin the season this Saturday, August 23rd at the newly revamped David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium in Lawrence vs Fresno State at 5:30 pm local time. If you cannot be in attendance, you can also stream the matchup on FOX.
The pride of Lawndale, California has already proven about as much as he can to Jayhawk nation, but is poised to show the rest of the country and the mainstream media what he is all about. It's his last dance in the crimson and blue, when it's all said and done, where will he lead this program to?
