Former Kansas players have had no trouble finding new teams in the transfer portal

While Bill Self has had trouble getting players to Kansas, the ones who left don't seem to have the same trouble finding new schools.

After the transfer portal had been open for over a week, Kansas head coach Bill Self finally got his first commitment from a transfer, coming from Utah forward Keanu Dawes. This was definitely a big pick-up for Self, but he still has a lot more work to do with this roster.

After losing seven players to the transfer portal, Self could get some good news with the return of Paul Mbiya, but the others certainly made up their mind in leaving Kansas. There have been commitments left and right from former Kansas players, and it has to be a little infuriating for Kansas fans.

4 former Kansas players have already committed out of the transfer portal

The biggest names that everyone has been watching out of the portal from Kansas were Flory Bidunga and Bryson Tiller. Both have already made their new commitments, with Bidunga signing a lucrative deal with Louisville and Tiller crossing into enemy territory to Missouri.

However, Bidunga and Tiller are the only former Jayhawks finding new homes already; both Elmarko Jackson and Jamari McDowell have also found their next program to play for.

Jackson chose to head to the powerhouse of the Big East Conference, joining Georgetown out of the transfer portal.

McDowell is following Bdiunga to the ACC as he has chosen Wake Forest as his next program and is hoping for elevated playing time.

It seems there was no trouble for these players to find their next program, so what is the trouble for Self in bringing in transfers? There are some that have made visits, like Utah's Terrence Brown, who Kansas fans are desperately hoping chooses the Jayhawks, but Self has to start getting more players to make commitments.

Kansas has four incoming freshmen in the Class of 2026, with the hope of that number coming to five with a commitment from five-star No. 1 overall prospect Tyran Stokes. There are just too many holes on the roster right now, and Self still has his work cut out for him.
