After playing in 52 games for the Kansas Jayhawks over the last three seasons, redshirt junior Zach Clemence entered the transfer portal. Now, he has found his new home, and it's in the most competitive conference in the country: the SEC.

On Friday, April 13, Clemence, who rode the bench for most of the 2024-25 season, announced that he would join the Texas A&M Aggies and new head coach Bucky McMillan.

Clemence averaged just 5.3 minutes per game over the last season and was only able to contribute 1.4 points, 1.4 rebounds, and 0.6 steals per appearance. However, over the last three years, he averaged 1.7 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game while clocking more minutes.

The power forward joins McMillan's roster, which the new head coach is having to rebuild after taking over the program, and adds a consistent shooting presence as well as the ability to play relatively well at almost any position.

At 6-foot-11, Clemence is on the taller side of the forward role and can play well within the paint. He is also a talented ball handler despite his lengthy build.

During his first season for the Jayhawks, Clemence scored a career high 11 points against the Stony Brook Seawolves, as well as six rebounds and one assist. When he entered the transfer portal, Clemence became the first Kansas player to do so after last season.

During the 2024-25 season, the SEC was touted as the most difficult conference to play in, as many of the top teams battled it out.
