Kansas basketball defensive star Flory Bidunga declared that he would test the NBA waters, and in case he decides to stay in college, he also entered the transfer portal. Both were smart decisions for Bidunga, though he's probably using the NBA process for feedback on how to improve his game and is most likely to stay at the collegiate level at least one more year.
In this age of NIL, it was also smart for him to establish some leverage in negotiating a more lucrative NIL package. He did the same thing last year before returning to Kansas for his sophomore season.
He may not return to Kansas this time. While it is certainly possible, it might not be as likely. Bidunga will certainly be considered one of the best players available in the portal, if not the best. He will have plenty of offers, and hopefully he gives KU the chance to match or exceed his best offer.
Be careful believing everything you read on social media regarding Flory Bidunga
Being mindful of content on social media is great advice for everyone concerning just about everything. In this case, immediate rumors, started by who knows who, stated the Bidunga was seeking $5 million . This number has not been confirmed by any outlet that should be considered trustworthy.
Kansas Sports Central hinted on X that they've heard that $2.5 million is the number that Bidunga might be seeking. While this seems like a way more realistic number, a quick peek at the website reveals all of six articles; they might not be a good source either.

That's the deal. Locate sources that can be trusted. If you see “breaking news” posts, look into who posted them. Some sources can be trusted that what they report is based on fact or educated speculation. Most things on social media, however, have to be taken with a grain of salt.
While Bidinga is shopping, the door is not closed for him at Kansas. Michael Swaim from 247Sports posted a video of Bill Self talking about Bidunga, indicating he knows the process.

Details from players' NIL deals aren't always made public, so the lack of transparency will lead to speculation, but Bidinga's market will establish itself, and probably fairly soon. If he decides to stay in school, the Jayhawks will still have an opportunity to make a deal with him. There doesn't seem to be any ill will at all between the two parties, so there is still a great chance Bidunga plays at KU again next year.
If he does return to KU, the Jayhawks should be loaded, and Self will make a run at another Big 12 title and another national title. Hopefully, Bidunga will be a significant part of that team.
