With the end of the season quickly approaching, the transfer portal will open, but Bill Self isn't worried about one of his players leaving.

The transfer portal window for college basketball is just around the corner, with Selection Sunday and the NCAA Tournament just days away. Head coach Bill Self will probably work to bring in players to replace key pieces like Darryn Peterson and Melvin Council Jr., but there is hope that some players will stick around, like Flory Bidunga.

The Kansas sophomore has really taken the next step this season after a freshman year where he saw limited minutes behind Hunter Dickerson. Now, as the leading big man, Bidunga has been a key piece to the Jayhawks' success this season, especially in the absence of Peterson at times.

With Bidunga's stock going up, other teams could be contacting his agent to see if they can get him in their uniform next season. While Bidunga has every right to go to the NBA, and Self feels that is very much on the table, the Kansas head coach isn't worried about him wearing another college uniform next season.

"There's things out there that I have heard based on some reports that this could be his last game here," Self said. "It could be, he could go pro, but I'm not concerned about anything else."

Any sort of Flordy Bidunga transfer rumors have been put to bed by Bill Self

Bidunga has every right to go wherever he wants to go next season, whether that is to the NBA or to another college team, but Self is pretty confident he won't be heading anywhere else at the college level.

Self knows that with the changing landscape of college sports now in the NIL era, every player has an agent, and that agent is paid to try and get their client the best possible deal. If a player wants to go to the NBA, then the agent is going to work hard to get them great brand deals and sell their client.

If a player wants to stay in college, agents are going to talk to other programs, but it doesn't mean that the player is leaving. Outside deals can also be used to leverage better deals at the college that the player is already attending. So, if Bidunga wants to stay in college, he could just be trying to get a better deal out of Kansas.

Self knows this, and he isn't worried about losing his star center, but he knows he may choose not to stick around at the college level either.
