After the biggest offseason recruiting win came with the commitment of No. 1 2026 recruit Tyran Stokes to Kansas, head coach Bill Self is trying to build the momentum. After the commitment from Stokes and another late commitment from Grant Mordini, the Jayhawks still had four open roster spots after a mass exodus to the transfer portal and the NBA.

Self worked to try and rebuild as much as he could from the portal, but with six incoming freshmen, he knew he had some reinforcements coming. After the two late 2026 commits, Self is still working in the portal, with another win coming today from Dennis Parker Jr.

Kansas lands Radford transfer Dennis Parker Jr. in late transfer portal commitment

With four open roster spots, Kansas could see a few more commitments from the portal in the future, but this is one that fans should like. Parker comes from Radford after a season of averaging 18.3 points per game, 5.9 rebounds, and 1.4 steals. For those wondering if Parker will be able to compete at the power conference level, he did play two seasons at NC State before his season at Radford.

Parker's time at NC State did not produce a lot in terms of numbers on the stat sheet, but being able to go to Radford and grow his game and become a better scorer is something Kansas needs. The Jayhawks need guys who can shoot the ball effectively outside the paint, with players like Stokes, Keanu Dawes, and Paul Mbiya taking over in the paint.

It is clear that Parker knows how to score efficiently, dropping 53 points in one game this season. In the 2025-2026 season, Parker shot 48.4% from the floor and 37.7% from beyond the arc, something Kansas lacked last season.

Self wants to put scorers around Stokes and really build the offense next season, and his moves in the portal are proving that.
