Rising sophomore Elmarko Jackson is looking to become a leader as he steps into his second year with the Kansas Jayhawks. Just last season, as a true freshman, he became a starter for the Jayhawks while playing in all 34 of Kansas's games, starting in half of them.
During the offseason, the Jayhawks' social media team gave fans exactly what they were in search of: player content.
The Kansas basketball team has started a series called Beyond the Phog, where the program shares lengthy videos of its players and staff. The most recent edition of the series featured none other than Jackson, giving fans a sneak peek of what the young guard does on a daily basis.

From putting in work at the gym to getting his hair cut to showing off his locker, Jackson shared tidbits of his life as a student athlete, making him even more personable than Jayhawk Nation already found the lovable guard.
Throughout the 34 games he appeared in last season, Jackson didn't contribute any jaw-dropping stats, but his consistent pressure slowed down opponents during the Jayhawks' rollercoaster of a season.
Elmarko Jackson freshman season stats
- 4.3 points per game
- 1.7 assists per game
- 1.4 rebounds per game
- 0.8 steals per game
- 0.1 blocks per game
At just 6-foot-3, earning any number of blocks as a collegiate freshman is respectable. However, Jackson's impressive vertical produced five blocks during the 2024-25 season. Coupled with his 26 steals, the young guard was a defensive menace last year.
Kansas' 2025-26 schedule has yet to be announced, but the Jayhawks are looking to turn things around from their disappointing 21-13 finish to last season.
