3 biggest stars for Kansas football in Jayhawks' upset over Colorado
Kansas football picked up its third consecutive ranked win over Colorado last night. The Jayhawks put the Buffs' College Football Playoff hopes in peril and preserved the chance of obtaining postseason eligibility with a win next week against Baylor. It was one of the best wins in the Lance Leipold era and the most electric all season.
While he has been criticized by fans this year, offensive coordinator Jeff Grimes constructed an excellent game plan. He relied on the rushing attack, and the Jayhawks posted 37 points despite squandering a few red zone opportunities. The win wouldn't have been possible if not for the contributions of these three players.
3. Cobee Bryant
Tensions were high heading into the highly anticipated matchup between Bryant and Travis Hunter. While the Heisman Trophy favorite did post a game-high eight receptions and 125 receiving yards, Bryant did a solid job of holding it down on the defensive end.
Some of his most notable plays include a tackle for loss against Hunter on a screen play and stopping Hunter from catching a deep ball, albeit on what should have been called a hold. Bryant finished the contest with three tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, and two pass deflections, which led the game. The box score might not reflect it, but Bryant had a solid outing facing off against the nation's most dynamic superstar.
