Kansas basketball: Gradey Dick makes a cameo in Drake’s son’s music video
Former Kansas basketball star Gradey Dick has quickly become one of the most beloved athletes in Canada, recently appearing in the music video for the son of renowned hip-hop artist Drake.
Gradey Dick was a fan favorite during his tenure with Kansas basketball, and he is receiving similar love from his new team in Toronto. The player who once received lucrative NIL deals in college is now throwing out first pitches at Blue Jays games, having personalized Chipotle bowls shared with the country, and getting recognition from one of America’s most decorated artists.
Drake is arguably the most prevalent rapper of the past 15 years. Originating from Toronto, Canada, “Drizzy” has kept close ties with his hometown over the years. He attends multiple Raptors games a year, constantly repping his city’s gear and cheering on from his courtside seat.
If you’re famous enough to get noticed by Drake, chances are you’re a pretty big deal. It seems that the multi-time Grammy winner has taken a liking to Gradey. He gave the Raptors props for drafting him 13th overall back in June on his Instagram story and most recently invited him to join a music video — just not for one of his songs.
Adonis Graham, Drake’s six-year-old son, released the “My Man Freestyle” video on YouTube. It is a playful tune for a kid who likely wants to follow in his father’s footsteps. Oddly enough, Gradey Dick is right smack in the middle of it as Adonis and his dad sit on a Raptors press conference podium.
Dick is quickly earning his stripes as a Toronto Raptor. From having connections to the city’s most popular celebrity figure and having the perfect personality to pair with his lively persona, he figures to continue to become more relevant in the NBA as time progresses. Dick recently made his NBA Preseason debut.
