After numerous visits and months of speculations, the No. 1 high school football recruit in Kansas is set to finally make his college decision.

Michael Boganowski, a four-star athlete from Junction City, Kansas, will announce where he intends to play college football during a ceremony at Junction City High School at 4 p.m. CT Thursday, Oct. 19, according to his Twitter/X account. He will choose between KU, K-State, Oklahoma, and Florida State.

Many thought Boganowski would announce his decision prior to the start of his senior year of high school football, but Boganowski has used that time to take more visits to fully evaluate his options.

This summer, Boganowski took official visits to KU, KSU, and Oklahoma. He also unofficially visited Florida State back in June.

KU has yet to secure the commitment of any of the top prospects in Kansas, but Boganowski would more than make up for those misses on the recruiting trail. He’s a versatile player who can play multiple positions on the defensive side of the ball

However, all the recent smoke appears to be pointing towards Oklahoma.

247Sports’ Director of Football Recruiting Steve Wiltfong just recently submitted his Crystal Ball prediction for Oklahoma. Wiltfong has nearly a 97% accuracy rate this year when making picks.

It’s not hard to see the appeal of OU. They’ve got the history, facilities, NIL money and they’ve shown massive improvement in year two under head coach Brent Venables who is a defensive coach at his core, which also likely appeals to Boganowski.

The Jayhawks are in it – and the staff, fans, and players have all made a strong push these past several months for him to come to Lawrence – but sadly right now, there’s nothing to suggest that KU will be the pick come Oct. 19.
