Kansas football: Why Jayhawks fans should be confident in Jason Bean
3. He will have more reps with the starters during practice
During postgame interviews, Bean revealed to the media that he didn’t take a single snap with the first team during practice in prep for Week 5. No wonder he wasn’t on the same page as his receivers. Considering Daniels’ status this week remains uncertain, and the coaching staff is more prepared for Bean to start, he has much more time to get ready for the contest against UCF.
There were multiple plays last game where the offense looked out of sync. During the crucial 4th-and-1 in the third quarter, Bean had an easy first down if he were to run the triple option or pitch it to the left of him. Instead, Daniel Hishaw Jr. held onto the pigskin for too long, which resulted in a Kansas turnover. Bean and his counterparts can practice plays like that to ensure that those types of mistakes are limited.
Moving forward, we need to view Jason Bean as the team’s starting quarterback. With the lack of information KU’s coaching staff provides to the public, all of us are kept in the dark about Jalon Daniels. For all we know, he could be nursing a multi-week injury that could keep him out most of October.
