Kansas football: Why Jayhawks fans should be confident in Jason Bean

2. His performance last week does not reflect how well he can play

When Bean was thrown into the fire last game against Texas, he and Kansas football were doomed from the time of kickoff. A player who had hardly seen any game action for one month had to face the No. 3 team in the country on the road and a top 5 defensive line in the nation.

KU’s offensive line certainly didn’t do Bean any favors. They should fare better vs. UCF, a team that doesn’t have nearly as much talent as Texas on their front four. This should open up the option game for Bean, also allowing him to scan the field during pass plays so he doesn’t have to rush the ball out.

We have seen much better days from Bean in the past. Just think about how excellent he played in the second half against TCU last year. Consistency will be key for the North Texas transfer, but if he can pull off plays like last week’s long touchdown pass to Trevor Wilson, the Jayhawk offense can still be as explosive as they are under Daniels.
