Iowa State Cyclones — 30-9 Win vs Northern Iowa

This offseason was one to forget for the Iowa State football program, as multiple players were dismissed from the team amid a gambling investigation. That left a lot of question marks going into the year. While Northern Iowa is not a heavyweight opponent by any stretch of the imagination, the Cyclones did a good job of at least starting to answer those questions. Iowa State took a 30-0 lead midway into the third quarter before finally surrendering any points and safely cruised to a 30-9 win. Rocco Becht wasn’t asked to do a lot, but he was solid when called upon. The redshirt freshman completed 10 of 13 passes for 113 yards and a couple of touchdowns (along with a rushing touchdown).

Next up for Iowa State is another in-state rival, as they host Iowa in a battle for the Cy-Hawk Trophy.
