Kansas football commit David McComb received his first 247 Sports rating, and the recruiting site thinks extremely highly of him.

The Kansas Jayhawks obtained their first pledge in the Class of 2025 on July 27 when they landed Oklahoma-based quarterback David McComb. Less than a month since he announced his decision, 247 Sports has given him his first recruiting rating.

The initial rating the website provided him was a prospect grade of 86. He begins as the No. 36 quarterback in his class and the No. 8 player in the state of Oklahoma.

A strong sophomore season saw him throw for almost 1,500 yards with 11 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also made his presence felt on the ground, running for 290 yards and three more scores. His dual-threat versatility should make him a valuable asset to the Kansas football team.

With Jalon Daniels and Jason Bean graduating after the 2023 season, head coach Lance Leipold will have his hands full finding the next full-time Jayhawks starter. Isaiah Marshall, an incoming senior from the Detroit area, is committed to Kansas. The 247 Sports Composite ranks him the No. 876 player in his class and the No. 53 quarterback. Ben Easters is another player to keep an eye on as the future of KU.

247 Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote this about David McComb: “The ball seems to jump out of McComb’s hands with a compact release. He’s a plus athlete who can move the chains with his legs. Capable of operating on the move and airing it out. Seems to be a bit of a gamer and has some developmental upside, given his strong physical traits.”
