11. BYU

BYU will play its first-ever Big 12 Conference game against Kansas in Week 4. After starting the year off 4-1 with a ranked win against top-10 Baylor, the Cougars’ defense ran out of gas at the midpoint of the season. They allowed 29.5 points per game and lost games to East Carolina and Liberty (by 27 points).

The team’s superstar signal caller Jaren Hall is off to the NFL, as is their leading rusher and receiver from last season. Former USC quarterback Kedon Slovis will take over at the helm, but his collegiate career has been shaky over the years.

A struggling defense and paltry offensive weapons likely won’t add up to much success for BYU. However, head coach Kalani Sitake should put them in a decent enough position to win a handful of conference games. They have one of the easiest schedules in the Big 12, thus why they got the nod over Houston.
