Kansas basketball: Making a case for Arterio Morris, Nick Timberlake, or Elmarko Jackson to start

The starting two-guard spot is up for grabs. We made a case for each Kansas basketball player to win the job.

The Kansas Jayhawks have a much different roster than last year, but there are very few uncertainties in the starting lineup. KU returned a trio of starters from the prior season and acquired the best player in the history of the transfer portal. The only position with a big question mark surrounding it is shooting guard.

Kansas has three candidates to win the job, and they all make a compelling case. While none of them are certain to be stars while donning the crimson and blue, they all carry their respective qualities that will make them important players to the team.

Nick Timberlake started in game one of the Puerto Rico trip, and Arterio Morris started in game two. With Morris likely sitting out the trip’s finale due to a bone bruise he sustained against the Bahamian National Team, incoming freshman Elmarko Jackson could be the next player called upon to the starting five. However, only one will receive the nod from head coach Bill Self on opening night in November, so…
